“Garden of the West” starts on a slotted wood base.  Techniques include twining, triple twining, the use of overlays and SHAPING!  The accent colors were inpired by a photo from Sue Kersten.  They represent grass, wheat and the beautiful vast blue skies of Kansas.  The accent colors are sky blue, celery and reseda green, natural and a pop of periwinkle.  Leather handles and a sunflower embellishment complete this charming tote.

This basket is one in a series of State Totes that started with Illinois – the Pride of the Prairie Tote.

The original “Garden of the West” tote was designed for the state of Kansas.  The Kansas tote has an embellishment in the shape of Kansas designed by Illinois artist Mikayla Murry.  Those embellishments will be available soon.
